Join the Music District on Saturday, June 23rd, as we kick-off summer with Sonic Social, a free open house-style celebration where you’re invited to plug in, turn up, and party on.
Kick-back and get entertained
The Living Room will feature fabulous performances, including a retro dance party with DJ Jason Heller and music by “Weird” gAL (Fort Collins’ own “Weird Al” Yankovic tribute band), as well as live experimental liquid projection by Cat Scanners Duo. While you’re dancing to great tunes, don’t forget to take a few fabulous photos at the photo booth. For a quick refresher, grab a beverage at the Living Room Cash Bar (with ID) and a delightful frozen treat from the Rocky Mountain Sno Caps food truck in the parking lot.
For something more relaxed, take a seat in the Media Library and enjoy a Northern Colorado Music Video Spotlight hosted by NoCoast Artists, featuring videos from 53:14 Music Video Experiment. This is a space to hear new tunes, watch brand new videos, and support local artists – musicians and filmmakers alike.
Do you want to make your own music? We are bringing back a crowd favorite from our Surround Sound Bash: record cutting with Meep Records. In the Green Room, Kind Dub will be hosting digital beats lab stations for beginners and pro’s alike while our community radio station KRFC will record radio spots and host band photo shoots in the red room.
Some of you may not be quite ready for that level of music-making or maybe you just want to try something new. Head upstairs to our practice rooms and gain hands-on experience facilitated by wonderful Music District instructors on the second floor. We will be featuring the Sitar and traditional Indian music with Andy Pettit, piano, vocal and songwriting instruction hosted by Charity Chapman, and you can strum the guitar with David Wiatrolik.
The attic is being transformed into an otherworldly interactive multimedia installation created by RYTHM EFX. This installation will remain in the attic after the party for you to continue to explore.
Take a tour guided by one of our radical Music District Staff Members and learn more about our space, our work, and how you can get connected.
So, mark your calendars for Saturday, June 23rd from 4-9pm to get creative and hang out with great local talent. We can’t wait to open our doors for you to explore the Music District from a whole new light.
Remember to RSVP on the event page!
