Mickey Davis, Program Manager of American Voices, made a visit to the Music District for a small artist engagement where he shared with the local music community the vastly rich opportunities that exist for touring musicians through his organization.

Mickey showed up right in the middle of recruiting process for artists for American Music Abroad, a US State Department-funded cultural exchange program. Applications were open until the end of January for any US-based bands to apply.

Additionally, he was one of the founders of the now-inaugural Des Moines Jazz Festival. Graduating with a degree in music from Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, Davis also performs and produces music, and he brings his experience as a touring musician and his love for travel to his role at American Voices.

Mickey also help with The Youth Excellence on Stage (YES) Academies, an organization that runs youth music academies in Iraqi Kurdistan, Lebanon, and Southeast Asia each summer and works with students between the ages of 13 and 25, and they act as regional hubs for students from the greater Levant region. They offer lots of classical music instruction as well as hip hop dance, and have recently added new components in songwriting, cultural entrepreneurship, and media production.
