Confession: as the Music District’s new Community Manager, I’d like to admit first and foremost that I was never really a fan of group projects in school. As an adult, I’ve grown to appreciate them more — but the real take-home is this: group projects are actually pleasant when you’ve got committed, inspired people involved. In my first month in this role, I’ve been extra fortunate to find myself working alongside a bunch of other community managers in various capacities, and I’ve decided *that’s* the ideal. Enthusiasm? Yeah! Shared documents and meticulous meeting agendas? Got ‘em! Elbow grease, rolled-up sleeves, and a decorative cake plate for those donut holes? Oh yes indeedy.
Locally, I’ve had to look no further than fo(co)works — an alliance of Northern Colorado coworking spaces — to find all the makings of a great group project. We’re working together as we speak to plan our annual Friendsgiving event, a donation-based dinner on Thursday, November 8 to benefit the Food Bank For Larimer County. The community (that’s you!) is invited. Bring a dessert or side dish to share (forget your fork? no problem!) and pull up a chair between 6P-8P at The Articulate. Our pals at Odell Brewing Co. and Music City Hot Chicken are pitching in on drinks and dinner, and every coworking space that’s a part of the alliance is contributing something special. (They put us in charge of the event playlist, among other things).
Whether you’re a member of a coworking space or simply coworking-curious, intrigued by the possibility of group project goodness, a fan of the food bank or food in general, or just in the neighborhood, please join us. Collaboration, conversation, and even a kids craft table chaperoned by actual moms await you.
