Sound & Vision Cinema: High Fidelity + The Resurrection of Vinyl
The Music District
Vinyl records continue to make a record-breaking resurgence in the music industry. Experience all things vinyl at this celebratory Sound & Vision Cinema event featuring a screening of the revered record store romantic dramedy High Fidelity. Following the screening, dive into analog-obsession and explore creative ways vinyl is making a comeback in this digital age with panelists Virgil Dickerson (Illegal Pete’s, Suburban Home Records), DJ Jimeni (NoCo vinyl-centric DJ), and more to be announced.
High Fidelity tells the story of Rob Gordon (John Cusack), the owner of a failing record store in Chicago, where he sells music the old-fashioned way — on vinyl. Although they have an encyclopedic knowledge of pop music and are consumed by the music scene, it’s of no help to Rob, whose needle skips the love groove when his long-time girlfriend walks out on him. As he examines his failed attempts at romance and happiness, the process finds him being dragged, kicking and screaming, into adulthood.
