OneBeat Movie Night: Rumble
The Music District - 639 S College
OneBeat Movie Nights – a specially curated film series, showcasing documentary films that explore unique power of music–across various traditions–to strengthen community and bridge cultural divides, and consider the ever-changing ways that music can catalyze movements for change outside of the rehearsal space, dance club, or concert hall.
Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World – A feature documentary about the role of Native Americans in American contemporary music history. The film tells the story a profound, essential, and, until now, missing chapter in the history of American music: the Indigenous influence. Featuring music icons Charley Patton, Mildred Bailey, Link Wray, Jimi Hendrix, Jesse Ed Davis, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Robbie Robertson, Randy Castillo, and others, RUMBLE shows how these talented Native musicians helped shape the soundtracks of our lives.
“Rumble” asks us to be still for a moment and to listen to the heartbeat — at once familiar and newly strange — that pumps the lifeblood that flows through the songs this country is known for. –The Washington Post
