On the Nines: Summer of ’69
The Music District
Step into summer with July’s On The Nines, where we’ll be throwing it back 50 years to a time when humans first touched the moon, Woodstock changed the future of music festivals, and classic songs by The Stones, Bowie, The Supremes, Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, and The Beatles hit the airwaves.
This free outdoor music showcase will feature live performances by Maxwell Mud and Easy Lovin’ and Macy Warner, plus a super sixties soundtrack by KRFC 88.9 FM Radio Fort Collins. 60s-inspired wear is encouraged so harness your flower power and dust off your tie-dye, paisley, bell bottoms, mod attire, vintage threads, etc. Ya dig?
The On the Nines series celebrates a year in music history, ending in nine. A mix of throwback songs and modern music, each event features a DJ, themed activities, cash bar, and Colorado musicians performing original songs plus legendary tracks from the spotlight year.
Free with RSVP | Cash bar w/ ID | 5:00-8:00pm
Maxwell Mud are seasoned musicians from the Midwest who produce a rich, high-energy sound to go along with their a sharp-dressed image. They are quickly gaining acclaim for their unrelenting Rock and Roll and classic style and are catching the attention of Rock and Roll purists everywhere they play. Singer and guitarist Brian Kittrell’s songwriting is inspired heavily by The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, but more so by the desire to keep the American culture of the blues alive and unforgotten. Not all he writes and performs is the blues, but he honors the art of storytelling, character building, and expression of truth.
Easy Lovin’ is the sultry songwriting and fleet-fingered guitar riffs of Ethan Lovell, the thick bass grooves of Ben Roach, and the swizzle-stick beats of Ryan Nash. The trio is ready to take over the Denver rock scene with their soulful lyricism, head-bobbing rhythms, and the occasional psych freak-out. Check out the debut Easy Lovin’ EP on their website for FREE at www.easylovinmusic.com and come see a show sometime!
