Program #1 – GIRLS ROCK!! – June 8th, 5:00 PM
GIRLS ROCK!! is a program of 11 different films by women filmmakers and performers. The program has been curated to highlight filmmaker and animator Jodie Mack whose work looks at culture and place through the lens of the 16mm Bolex camera. Often using marbleized paper, fabric itself and even a hand-drawn film using special glasses to transform everyday black and white into a rainbow pattern of color, and surprise, Jodie’s films are a feast for the senses. Also, featured in the program is a live score by Boulder Musician Pearls and Perils who will be performing to Marie Menken’s Go! Go! Go! and a collection of Serpentine dances by Loïe Fuller that are hand tinted from the 1890s.

Program #2 – BREAKAWAY / WHAT’D I SAY!? – June 8th, 7:00 PM
BREAKAWAY / WHAT’D I SAY!? will also have 11 different films by several different artists and filmmakers. The program has been curated to highlight filmmaker and animator Jodie Mack whose work looks at culture and place through the lens of the 16mm Bolex camera. Often using fabric itself and even a hand-drawn film using special glasses to transform everyday black and white into a rainbow pattern of color, and surprise, Jodie’s films are a feast for the senses. Also featured are three works by seminal found-footage filmmaker Bruce Conner that he made featuring the music of Ray Charles, Toni Basil and Devo. Finally, Boulder musician, Pearls and Perils will be performing a live score to the film Go! Go! Go! by Marie Menken.

Tiny Cinema

What is Davey B. Gravey’s Tiny Cinema? A fine question indeed! The Tiny Cinema is, literally, a tiny cinema. Once a cargo-trailer, this four seat sideshow cinema screens short, silent movies on the glorious format of Super 8 film. Each film comes with live musical accompaniment from your projectionist, Dr. Gravey himself!
