On Wednesday, April 4, we welcome legendary DJ and producer Cut Chemist (Jurassic 5, Ozomatli) for an exciting live interview about his prolific career. Veteran hip hop journalist Kyle Eustice (Wax Poetics, The Source, HipHopDX, Vice), will moderate the conversation.

Music District Mic Check invites you to go behind-the-scenes and beyond the music with intimate conversations featuring some of your favorite musicians and industry insiders.

About Cut Chemist: As a founding member of seminal Los Angeles groups Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli, CUT CHEMIST (Lucas McFadden) has been producing and releasing music for almost 20 years. He has also released a series of highly acclaimed mix CDs with DJ Shadow, including influential albums Brainfreeze and Product Placement. In 2007, he released The Audience’s Listening which showed that he could produce a wide range of musical styles. He has toured extensively for the last few years with a stunning audio-visual performance that brought a whole new dimension to his sound. CUT CHEMIST has also made cameo appearances in the films “Juno” and “Up In The Air.”


About Kyle:  Omaha native Kyle Eustice is an accomplished music journalist whose bylines have appeared in publications like The Source, Wax Poetics, High Times, Ghettoblaster Magazine and Vice. She’s currently a staff writer/editor for HipHopDX, news chief for Public Enemy’s Chuck D and longtime contributor for Thrasher Skateboard Magazine. Kyle lives in Fort Collins with her husband Paul Lukes, and two chihuahuas Paco and Petey. In her spare time, she can be found somewhere backstage with a recorder in her hand or on a bicycle.
