Brews & News: Can Artists Survive in Northern Colorado?

Location

Living Room

Description

Can artists survive in Northern Colorado?

We’re not talking about whether or not they can physically exist here, but whether the environment is one that supports local art and the individuals who create it.

For January’s Brews & News, we want to facilitate a discussion about the struggles local artists face and how Fort Collins can become a community where artists can afford to live, work and, not only survive, but thrive.

Reporter Erin Udell will moderate a panel discussion on the challenges artists face while trying to make a living from their work in Northern Colorado. The panel will touch on the issue of affordable housing for artists, and, a year after a sales tax to fund arts failed, will revisit talks about funding mechanisms that could elevate and sustain our local arts scene.

If there’s a topic you think we should touch on, please email events coordinator, Cody Frohman at cfrohman@coloradoan.com
